Nestling in the country Parish of St. Martin in a quiet green valley close to one of Guernseys most beautiful beaches. La Barbarie Hotel provides easy access to the lovely cliffs, bays and coves on the South coast of Guernsey.
This fine Guernsey Hotel was named 'La Barbarie' after Barbary Coast pirates kidnapped and put to ransom the owner of this country house in the 17th century. Things are a little quieter around here now! La Barbarie was converted into an hotel in 1950 and the old quiet charm has never left. Indeed, La Barbarie Hotel is one of those relaxing Guernsey country hotels that only a lucky few discover. The heated swimming pool and warm patio provide the perfect secluded spot for lazy lunches or a quiet aperitif before dinner. Spacious yet intimate in atmosphere, the restaurant is a delightful place in which to sample some of Guernsey's finest cuisine. La Barbarie's Head Chef is immensely proud of the praise he receives, not just from the AA and the Guernsey Restaurant of the Year Competition (in which La Barbarie were category winners in 2005) but most important critics of all, you our guests. Our seafood selection is famous with locals and visitors alike and vegetarians are amply catered for. Daily menus are exciting without being pretentious and our team are helpful and friendly, never pompous. Chairman of Judges Mr Brian Turner awarded Restaurant La Barbarie the following accolades:- Most inventive starter Best Restaurant Service Best in Competition Category Overall Winner - Guernsey Restaurants of the Year But most importantly, Restaurant La Barbarie represents excellent value for money with a daily changing fixed price five course dinner menu.
